pictures from Portland -- part 2

Portland trip, take two.

To begin, the pictures:

If there's one photo to describe Havilah, this is it (below). She's sweet (see above), especially with me. She gives wonderful, slobbery kisses to her family and is generally in a pleasant mood, but she is also intense (or, maybe I'm just used to easy-going John?). We call her our go-go-girl because the girl is constantly moving. Sometimes I'm amazed that she's still when she sleeps because she is never still.

John with Auntie Shawna and Uncle Jordan:

We did so much on our trip. We saw Jordan and Rachel Scheetz and kids (and said goodbye, as they're now in Amsterdam), Evan Chandler, Jason Yi, Scott and Katie Coyle, Elizabeth and Silas Jones, Christina Turner and her fiance Zach Cooper, Patrick and Rachel Wilson (and baby Josiah), Stephanie Blakeman, Uncle Dan Honeycutt, Beyth Hogue and many more of Shawna's friends, all the old friends from SMBC and Pearl Church, plus almost every Hord and Sanford family member. And then at the wedding we had the chance to talk with lots of family friends--and meet Jordan's family--which were both wonderful.

I love that. When you are in the city you grew up in, you run into people you know all the time. I'm starting to run into people I know here but it's a big city and the amount of people I know is relatively small.

In Oregon, we ate at all of our favorite restaurants (yum!), contributed to mass wedding craziness/fun, took a trip to the Gorge, saw the ocean for the day at Pacific City (with the Hord side of the family), enjoyed the ability to walk outside without feeling like a baked potatoe in the oven, and drank way too much coffee from Bill's excellent coffee machine.
Since getting home, we've been super busy getting John's schooling started and therapy in place (post on that coming tomorrow). We're both back to work, and I've been occupying myself with several sewing projects. What can I say? My sewing machine is a stress reliever (post on the projects coming soon). We have a busy fall ahead of us, but the routine will do all of us good.
Sweet dreams sweet friends!
